Martin Allen says Barnet will go to AFC Wimbledon all guns blazing once more as they seek a change of luck on the road.

The Bees were beaten 2-1 at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening, giving the high fliers a real run for their money and twice hitting the woodwork in the second half.

Allen declared prior to the trip to Devon he would ‘park the bus’ and set his side out to frustrate the Pilgrims in a 4-5-1 system.

However, the Bees took the game to the hosts and were rewarded for their bold approach when they went in front after half-an-hour through Aaron McLean.

And Allen is promising more of the same at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.

He told the club website: “We go into this London derby against Wimbledon with what I imagine will be a good traveling support after last week’s superb performance against Dagenham & Redbridge.

“So it’s all guns blazing once again – I’m sure we will have a lot of fans there, making a lot of noise.

“In training this morning the message to the players will again be: same again, keep it going, keep believing, let’s go and put on another good performance.

“Hopefully we’ll be bring three points back across London to The Hive.”

The Bees are yet to win on the road this season in five league games. But apart from one aberration – at Bristol Rovers in August – Allen has been pleased with his side's displays and insists there is no reason be concerned.

He said: “There’s no reason to be downhearted; the team are playing well, working hard, they are committed and they are giving everything that they’ve got.

“There are things that I can tweak here and there, and I will do. But overall, for me the players are doing a superb job.

“We’ve hit the woodwork so many times; the number of times we’ve hit the crossbar, the posts and had things cleared off the line this last couple of months has been quite remarkable.

“We must keep believing in ourselves – surely sooner or later our luck has got to change. Our finishing has at times been very unlucky, and at times it could have been better.”

Allen will once again be without striker Kevin Lisbie (hamstring) and goalkeeper Graham Stack (hip flexor/calf), though the pair are closing in on a return to fitness.

Defender Bira Dembele has missed the Bees’ last two games with a groin problem and returned to England on Thursday after going home to France to see his family.

It is unclear whether or not the tall centre-back will be in contention for Saturday’s trip to south London, though.

Dons boss Neal Ardley could be without powerful forward Adebayo Akinfenwa after the striker was withdrawn before half-time of Saturday’s game against Northampton Town with a hamstring strain.

He will be assessed prior to Barnet’s visit on Saturday. Meanwhile, on-loan defender Karleigh Osborne is back from suspension and in contention to return to the starting XI.

However, one man who will definitely miss out is striker Tom Elliott, who is sidelined with a knee injury.
