Blackpool boss Neil McDonald has hinted at changes for today’s FA Cup first round tie at Barnet but insists he will bring a strong team to The Hive.

Pool have lost their last two in League One – including at Bradford City on Tuesday – and after suffering a miserable and wholly inevitable relegation from the Championship last season.

And for that reason, McDonald’s first priority is a second demotion in succession with the Tangerines lying 20th in League One, just a point clear of the bottom four.

But the former West Ham United assistant manager insists he will respect the FA Cup by naming a strong side this afternoon.

He told the Blackpool Gazette: “We are going to Barnet to win the game there’s no doubt about that.

“The FA Cup is a special competition and we’ll be respecting Barnet. We’ll be sending a strong team, all the players will be travelling.

“We may make the odd changes because of knocks and playing three games in a week, but it’s a very strong team we’ll be putting out.”

He added: “Martin has done his homework by watching us on Tuesday and we’ve done ours too on them.

“We know what they are all about. Hopefully he’ll be a little bit worried with what he saw on Tuesday night. We’ve had them watched and they have some very decent players.”
