Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says Martin Allen will have left the Globe Arena confident Barnet can get a result after witnessing their FA Cup defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday.

The Shrimps were knocked out by the Daggers despite scoring twice in the first seven minutes to take a 2-0 lead against the League Two strugglers.

However, the Daggers rallied and advanced to round two at the expense of the Shrimps by scoring twice either side of half time.

Speaking to the club’s website, Bentley said: "I know Barnet manager Martin Allen was there on Tuesday and he will have gone away confident that his side can get a result against us.

"But our away form has been excellent this year and we must look to put in the type of performance that has served us well on the road.

"We have scored a lot of goals but our defensive record is shocking and we have to get it right at both ends of the pitch. When we do that we have looked good and got some great results.

"We have to remember that we are just three points off the play offs and are in the regional semi-final of the Football League Trophy after beating three League One sides so we have had some highs and we have to overcome the lows.''

Reflecting on Tuesday’s defeat, Bentley said: “Tuesday night was horrible and I've had a horrible few days to be honest since the game.

"It was hard to accept and defeats like that affect me more than anyone.

"But this is football and we are back in action on Saturday and we have the chance to put it right. We can't feel sorry for ourselves because football doesn't let you do that.”
