Barnet have confirmed Andy Yiadom has been made available for transfer after turning down a new contract whilst Mauro Vilhete has also been listed.

The Times Series learned this morning that captain Yiadom had been made available for transfer with his contract at The Hive running out at the end of June.

As he is 24 years old the club wouldn't have been entitled to any fee if he left Barnet at the end of his existing deal.

Vilhete, meanwhile, has been on loan at Boreham Wood who have the option to make the deal permanent.

The Portuguese is currently injured and isn't expected to feature for Wood again before his loan deal expires on January 30.

Speaking to the club's website to explain the decisions, head coach Martin Allen said:  “We have offered Andy a new contract which he has rejected.

“As he is out of contract this summer, we felt that it was best to make Andy available now.

“He has been inspirational and has not only been an excellent player, but is a great person.

“He has a good character, an excellent work ethic, and a desire to better himself.

“He will be sadly missed, but we have to evolve and move on."

Addressing Vilhete's situation, Allen said: “With Mauro it is a very difficult decision, as once again he played a significant part in our championship winning team.

“The step up has seen us, in my opinion, doing ok. But I want to step up again and opportunities for Mauro would be limited.

“I am now committed to developing and bringing through the next group of young players.

“Their pathway must be clear for the next 18 months to secure their places in the first team squad.

“Mauro is a lovely person – honest, hardworking, and very professional. Again it is a tough decision and a difficult one for me personally."

The Bees boss also hinted as possible new arrivals and added: “A few things are happening at the moment behind the scenes and I will update you all as soon as the deals get done.”
