Ben Tomlinson has returned early from his loan spell at Tranmere Rovers and been made available for loan or transfer.

The former Lincoln City attacker only joined the Bees in the summer on a two-year deal but has found first-team action hard to come by at The Hive.

Tomlinson, 26, made just three starts and two substitute appearances for Barnet after joining from the Imps.

He was loaned out to Grimsby Town for a month in September before joining Tranmere for three months upon his return.

Head coach Martin Allen told the club's website: "At lunchtime today I’ve had a chat with Tranmere Rovers manager Gary Brabin and Ben Tomlinson won’t be staying up at Prenton Park.

"He has done very well up there, but Ben will be returning to us on Monday.

"I’ve already had several enquiries for Ben, and we will be alerting all clubs this afternoon that Ben is available for loan or transfer.

"Ben is a cracking lad and is popular in the dressing room.

"After scoring 14 goals for Lincoln last season I am sure that Ben can turn it around and take his career in the right direction."
