Top scorer John Akinde will almost certainly be fit for Barnet’s trip to Newport County on Saturday but Sam Togwell and Gavin Hoyte will miss out and Michael Gash is out for weeks with a hamstring injury.
Akinde hasn’t played for the Bees since the 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers at the beginning of January due to a tight hamstring. Meanwhile, Gash missed the goalless draw at Stevenage a fortnight ago with the same problem.
Gash had played the previous weekend in another goalless draw against Carlisle United but head coach Martin Allen admitted afterwards the 29-year-old had been struggling.
Allen’s mounting injury list wasn’t eased at Stevenage with Hoyte and Togwell withdrawn before half time after suffering blows.
Full-back Hoyte is suffering from a knee problem whilst Togwell is a major doubt with a foot problem. He was due to undergo a scan on the injury on Friday.
Centre-back Michael Nelson, who hasn’t played since dislocating his shoulder in victory over Crawley Town on December 19, trained for the first time on Friday and it was hoped he would return to full training on Monday.
Goalkeeper Graham Stack is still sidelined and making good but slow progress as he recovers from a groin problem which has seen him out of action since August.
