Barnet have signed Oxford United striker James Roberts on loan for a month.

The striker, 19, joins the Bees in time for this evening's home clash against Plymouth Argyle.

Roberts spent time on loan at National League side Chester earlier this season, scoring once in six league starts.

In total he has made 26 appearances for the U's in all competitions, scoring five goals – all of which came last season.

Allen recently told the Times Series he wouldn't sign any other forwards on loan after losing Michael Gash and Shaun Batt to injury.

The Bees have managed with top-scorer John Akinde and transfer listed Under-18s striker Matt Stevens since.

“I’m not going to bring anybody else in on loan now,” he told the Times Series last month. “After the result at Dagenham & Redbridge (2-0 to Barnet) I’m going to continue with the players we’ve got.

“Michael Gash will come back in three or four weeks’ time. Matt Stevens is getting sharper.

"The extra centre-forward will come from within. We’ve also had a lot of success with Curtis Weston alongside John Akinde.”
