Lewis Hawkins waited 31 games to score his first goals for Hartlepool United and they were well worth the wait in a 3-1 win over Barnet at The Hive on Saturday.

A pair of stunners from the homeground midfielder overshadowed Fumnaya Shomotun's first Football League goal as Barnet surrendered their three-game unbeaten run.

The Bees went in front after 11 minutes when Shomotun squeezed into enough space to lash beyond Trevor Carson.

Hawkins levelled after 34 minutes, crashing beyond Jamie Stephens from 30 yards.

He repeated the trick six minutes later with a curling right-footed effort which he steered beyond Stephens at the near post.

After the break Nathan Thomas completed the turnaround for Pools, stepping inside substitute Sam Muggleton and curling in the third.
