Head coach Martin Allen has hinted he will give a chance to some of the club’s young players after declaring Barnet safe.

Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at home to Oxford United leaves the Bees 15th in their first season back in the Football League.

There are 20 points between Barnet and the relegation zone and 12 separating them from the League Two play-off places.

Allen has spoken at length about giving some of the club’s young prospects a chance in the first team.

He has given league debuts to Harry Taylor, Hakeem Odofin, Fumnaya Shomotun, Kai McKenzie-Lyle and Justin Nwogu. Nana Kyei and Ryan Gondoh have been unused substitutes for Barnet this term.

Now Allen has suggested there could be further debuts for homegrown players with the Bees safely in the middle of the pack.

Speaking after Saturday’s defeat to the U’s, Allen said: “We can’t go up, we can’t go down, so I’ll have a good think over the next few days about what we’re going to do next weekend.

“Maybe we can give out some debuts to some of our young lads.”

Charlie Kennedy, Wes Fonguck and Shane Cojocarel could be involved for the Bees who visit Exeter City on Friday.
