Barnet winger Luke Gambin has rejected a move to Leyton Orient days after the Bees accepted a six-figure bid from their London rivals.
The 23-year-old Malta international has been subject to a number of bids from clubs in League Two this summer, the club confirmed, but only the O's have had the chance to discuss personal terms with the player.
But the club also stated Gambin has made his desire to play at a higher level clear, and he will remain at The Hive until such an opportunity is forthcoming.
He had originally been transfer listed over the weekend when he turned down a new contract.
Chairman Tony Kleanthous said: "Luke is an excellent player and we can fully understand his desire to test himself in a higher division.
"Of course we would have preferred that he stayed with Barnet this season, but unfortunately it has become quite clear that he wishes to move elsewhere."
