Lawrie Sanchez admits he doesn’t know what his Barnet side have to do to win a game, after watching the Bees dominate their match against Crawley Town only to lose 2-1.

Ricky Holmes had put Barnet ahead in the first half and the Bees had several chances to extend their lead before the interval.

However, the second period was a closer affair and Crawley drew level through John Dempster. The Reds then went in front as Scott Davies’ deflected strike from distance beat Dean Brill.

Barnet created plenty opportunities to draw level but resolute defending and good goalkeeping denied the Bees the point they at least deserved.

Sanchez believes the result summed up Barnet’s season.

He said: “Going forward, we are free flowing and we look like we can score goals. But what we haven’t done is kept them out at the other end.

“Poor marking from a corner, I think Clovis’ man as got away from him, five minutes into the second half, after being blitzed in the first, they are back in it.

“Then a ball breaks down, the bloke picks it up and shoots speculatively from 35 yards and we’re 2-1 down.

“Then you are thinking ‘how are we 2-1 down in this football match?’ “Kuipers apparently kept them in the game against Crewe last week, but the saves he was pulling off today did the same.

“It would be funny how many chances we have had if the situation wasn’t so serious.”

He added: “It’s a really strange one as I sit here because I do wonder what we have to do to win the football match? With other results we could have been all but safe.”
