Tournament Controller (and joint champion!) Malcolm Gesthuysen reports: The title is shared by three players: Gesthuysen, Hjort and Landau.

Malcolm Gesthuysen reports: The top four pairings in the latest round were drawn, so Helge Hjort has 5/6 and only needs a draw in the last round to retain the title.

From Malcolm Gesthuysen: The reigning champion, Helge Hjort, won quickly on top board after his (weary/unworthy) opponent miscalculated horribly on move ten of an unfamiliar opening and lost a piece four moves later. Kishan Pattni had a fine win in the best game of the evening, giving up two pawns but having better rooks and bishop, which eventually delivered a back-rank mate.

There are now 24 competitors, and there are three rounds to go. Hjort and Gesthuysen lead with 3½/4 (and will play each other in the next round in two weeks' time); Cohen has 3/4; and there are seven players on 2½/4.

Tournament Controller Malcolm Gesthuysen reports on the third round of the club championship, which took place last night; "In the third round and on top board, reigning champion Helge Hjort (see below for a picture) battled against Vivian Cohen's counter gambit and won two minor pieces for a rook. He eventually came out a bishop ahead, but Black forced a draw by threefold repetition just as White's flag fell.
