The monthly 'First Thursday of the month' blitz tournament, open to allcomers, took place last night at Hendon Chess Club. There was a modest entry, but we had the honour of a visit from Alexander Cherniaev, a Russian Grandmaster who now lives in Finchley Central.
RESULTS: Alexander Cherniaev 6/6 and £20, Helge Hjort 5/6 and £10.00 for being the highest Hendon player, David Ben-Nathan, Shane McCabe 4/6, Genga Somupillai, Salvatore Pepe, Graeme Lennard 3.5/6, Jonathan Landau, Allan Blewitt, David Iwi 3/6, Jordan Michow 2.5/6, Faye Ainscow, Chris Jones, Simon Samet 2/6.
Newcomer Tony Hulstrom finished last on 1/6, but still said he would join the club! Jonathan Hoffman ably took on the duty of filler to ensure that everyone got a game!
