A report from Malcolm Gesthuysen, tournament controller: "We now have 22 competitors.
The favourite, Adam Raoof, was held to a draw by the tournament controller (graded 40 points lower).
The reigning champion, Helge Hjort, had another good endgame victory. Ungraded newcomer Justin Robertson is a strong challenger. The surprise of the round was a fine win by Ivan Kiskin, who has really improved his game despite being busy with exams. A former champion, Vivian Cohen, still looks impressive, as does Jonathan Landau. The youngest competitor, Frank Sabin, confirmed his promising status. Raj Bhalla, Kishan Pattni and Graeme Lennard also scored their first wins."
