Martin Allen was full of praise for the Barnet fans after the Bees 3-0 defeat against Southend United.
A total of 404 supporters made the trip to Roots Hall but ultimately returned home from their penultimate away fixture disappointed.
Despite pre-match optimism being quickly diminished the Barnet fans still backed their side throughout the contest and Allen said that they matched the players in their support.
"I was disappointed for the supporters. They pay good money to watch the game and watch the team play. And that was a disappointed and hurtful performance for the supporters that paid to watch that," commented the Bees boss.
"We can all take getting beat but we want to go down with a fight and a battle and having a go even if it does go pear shaped - which it will do occasionally.
"But even so we have got to compete, you still have to want to play and do that right things. And in the second half the supporters matched the players.
"They all stood there, stood firm and didn’t turn on the players and fair play for them staying throughout the duration."
