Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall insists his side will bounce back next season after their grip on the Premiership title came to an end at Leicester Tigers.
The champions were always up against it, after being handed a semi-final trip to Welford Road, and they could not produce their best form as they were beaten 24-15 in a repeat of last year’s final clash.
McCall said: “I think we’ve had a good season. To have finished two points behind Harlequins at the end of the regular season, having been the only English team to get through to the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup, and having new internationals play for England for the first time, I think we can be very proud of a lot things we achieved.
“We haven’t quite got over the mark but there are a lot of good things happening and we’ll bounce back from this for sure.
“It was one of those very tight games,” he continued. “Leicester are a top-class side, and while we had some opportunities, we did not take them. When you come to Welford Road you have got to take all your chances, but I was proud of the players’ efforts.”
