Wingate & Finchley continue to search for their first win under Gary Meakin as the Blues suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Metropolitan Police FC.

Jordan Fowler’s deflected strike off Murat Karagul put the hosts ahead inside ten minutes but the visitors hit back through Craig Brown and were unfortunate not to lead at the interval after Elliot Taylor’s precise header was ruled out for offside.

However, Police controlled the second period and a rare mistake from Bobby Smith allowed Aaron Wickham’s tame effort to hit the net.

Steve Sutherland grabbed a third for the visitors with 20 minutes remaining but Wingate could not fight back and the defeat means they have won just one of their last eight Ryman Premier League matches.
