Cockfosters progressed to the last eight of the South Midlands Floodlight Cup after a 6-2 victory over Hatfield Town.

With Fosters welcoming skipper Paul Marks back to the side following his injury, the hosts took control from the off and opened the scoring on 16 minutes after Lorenzo Ferrari headed home a Bilal Butt free-kick.

The one way traffic continued and Cockfosters doubled their lead when Emond Protain added a second for the Reds.

Two minutes later and they grabbed a third when the Hatfield defence was torn apart and Anton Lewis clinically finished.

Every time Cockfosters went forward a goal seemed likely and they scored the fourth when Protain slotted home from close range.

Shortly before the break Butt added a fifth with a fine lob over the visiting goalkeeper.

The second period saw Hatfield battle back and they reduced the deficit less than a minute after the restart.

However, Ferrari scored a sixth for Cockfosters after rounding the goalkeeper and rolling the ball into an empty net.

Town scored late on to reduce the deficit but it was a comfortable win for Fosters.
