Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall says his team were 'clinical and professional' in their 22-0 win over Bath

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall praised the "clinical and professional" performance of his players as they cruised to a 22-0 victory against Bath at the Recreation Ground.

A first half try from Richard  Wigglesworth and six kicks from the brilliant Charlie Hodgson ensure the win was never in doubt for the Men in Black.

McCall said: "I thought we were outstanding today - I thought it was professional and clinical in all parts of our game and in that first half when we got some territory we played some good rugby as well in some tricky conditions.

"The 16-0 lead at half time was probably well-deserved - it was masssive lead in these conditions."

Hodgson was impressive throughout, kicking with relentless precision from the tee and intelligence in open play.

McCall said: "Charlie was oustanding, he knew when to pass, when to kick, he knew when to put the ball in front of the forwards and he made the crucial break for Richard Wigglesworth's try.

"Richard was also outstanding today. But I thought they got a great platform from our set-piece, defensively we were good, our discipline was good, it was just a very clinical and professional performance."

Saracens have come through a challenging period, which saw several of their star players absent on international duty, and McCall believes the team are starting to gel again.

"At the start of the seaosn we had ten games in a row with this group of players and by the end of those games we were playing some pretty good stuff and then we lost them all for five weeks," McCall said.

"We were slow out of the blocks at Munster away but we were better last week and then to back that up six days later away to Bath in those kind of conditions - I think that tells you everything you need to know about this group of players."
