Despite only having 13 players on the field by the end of the match, Hendon completed a 16-9 win over Bank of England in Herts/Middlesex League One.
A nervous start to the contest saw Hendon go behind after conceding a penalty.
From the restart Hendon went on the attack and a forward run by Cosy Mutuma led to a penalty which was kicked over by second row forward Paul Geraghty.
Bank regained control of the contest though and dominated the majority of the opening half. However, they only had two converted penalties to show for their dominance.
Despite being on the back foot, Hendon managed to score the first try of the game as Tommy Middleton put winger Robert Nunez through and he touched down to put the visitors just one point behind at the interval.
The second half continued in the same fashion as the first with Bank still in control of possession.
However, when Hendon were awarded a penalty in their own 22, a long kick by Michael Blake saw a forward inspired drive result in a five metre scrum.
Quick thinking from Middleton then allowed him room to dive through the host’s defence to score.
The next 15 minutes belonged to Hendon and they forced Bank into conceding a penalty on their own 22, which Geraghty pushed to put the visitors 16-9.
In the closing stages of the contest, Bank were camped in the Hendon 22 but the visitors stopped all attacks.
However, two further players were sin binned with five minutes to go.
But despite the two man disadvantage, Hendon managed to hold out and complete a battling victory.
