Edgar Davids felt his Barnet side “definitely” deserved to take a point away from their match at Bristol Rovers and despite the 2-1 defeat he admitted he was “proud” of the Bees performance.

After an even 77 minutes in which neither side had created a clear chance, Rovers went ahead through Fabian Broghammer.

The Bees pushed forward and thought they had earned a share of the points when Harry Crawford netted his first goal for Barnet in the 89th minute.

However, Davids’ side couldn’t hold on and two minutes into injury time Ryan Brunt finished well from a tight angle to leave the Bees beaten and dejected.

While disappointed to come away empty handed from the game, Davids praised the Bess passing display.

“If you saw the whole match we definitely deserved one point. It is too bad we lost it in the last minute,” the Dutchman said.

“Sometimes you just make silly mistakes and that can cost you. But if you look at the overall game of how we played, some of the spells with the ball were unbelievable.

“I was really proud with the spells we had. We played out from the back and dominated some parts of the game.”

He added: “I think it was a good opportunity to which team was better and if you lose concentration or make slight errors you will get punished, even at this level.

“So it is very sad and if we had one point I would be a happy man. It is difficult but I saw a lot of good things in the game.”
