In post match interviews, mainly after a defeat, some managers will look to deflect attention away from their side’s performance. Edgar Davids is not one of those managers.

Whether Barnet win or lose, the Dutchman is keen to focus on what the Bees did well and what they can continue to work on.

After his side’s 2-1 last minute defeat at Bristol Rover on Friday Davids remained upbeat.

“Playing wise we are definitely on the up,” the Bees boss said. “Against Burton we lost because we weren’t sharp in the first three minutes. In that game we had very good spells with the ball.

“Today we also had some very good spells. But at the end of the day it is about the points and how you get them sometimes doesn’t matter because you need the points to get safe.”

He added: “I am enjoying the project and we are getting better. I saw some spells with the ball that I didn’t expect in terms of playing out from the back.

“So I am really happy with that but we now have to take it a step further. You need to have the concentration and if you don’t you will get punished.

“It is a hard way to learn but hopefully we will learn that we have to be concentrating to the first minute to the last minute.”
