Olympic triple jumper Yamile Aldama victorious at British Athletic European Indoor Trials and UK Championships

Olympic triple jumper Yamile Aldama was the pick of the Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers athletes at the British Athletic European Indoor Trials and UK Championships at the weekend.

Aldama, despite using a shortened run up to protect her hamstring, produced a jump of 13.44m to claim a gold medal at the event.

There were silver medals for Under-23 athlete Allan Smith (2.22m) in the high jump, Allan Scott (7.76) in the 60m hurdles and Under-23 competitor Zane Duquemin (18.50m) in the shot putt, which ranks him number one in his age category in the UK this year.

Melissa Courtney finished third in the 1500m in a personal best 4.17.57, while Zoe Brown produced a season’s best 4.20m in the pole vault. There was a personal best of 7.80m for Dan Bramble in the long jump, which ranks him third in the UK in 2013.

Under-23 athlete Jade Ive claimed a new personal best in the pole vault of 4.05m. It helped her to sixth place overall and her performance puts her third in the UK Under-23 rankings for 2013.
