Barnet ladies thump Old Actonians 11-0 to set up Middlesex Senior Cup final against Queens Park Rangers

Barnet Ladies passage to the Middlesex Senior Cup final was a simple one as they thrashed Old Actonians 11-0.

The Bees were handed a bye to the semi-finals while Old Actonians triumphed 5-2 against Denham Ladies in the previous round of the competition.

Barnet defender Gemma Rudman jumped highest to meet Danielle Murphy’s corner in the 11th minute to put Barnet 1-0 up.

A goal from Stacey Sowden and two from Helen King quickly followed before Holly Sandow converted Chontelle Lawrence’s assist to add gloss to the score before half time.

Murphy scored within a minute of the restart and Lawrence was on hand to tap in after Old Actonians’ Helen Taylor had blocked King’s hat-trick effort on the hour mark.

Sowden hit the crossbar but a shot from Lawrence was parried towards Andreia Georgiou who marked her debut with the eighth goal.

In the final ten minutes, Murphy scored again and Aofie Hurley opened her account for the club. Sowden missed a penalty for Barnet before King sealed her hat-trick on an enjoyable day for Barnet.

The result means the Bees will take on Queens Park Rangers for the Middlesex Senior Cup on May 2 at Uxbridge FC.
