Hendon continue move up the Ryman Premier Division table after defeating Canvey Island

Hendon manager Gary McCann hailed his side’s 3-0 victory at Canvey Island as the Greens most assured performance of the season.

The visitors went ahead in the 12th minute as Dean Cracknell fired the ball past Ashlee Jones after a good pull back from Casey Maclaren.

Hendon controlled the remainder of the half but were unable to add to their early goal.

However, they did extend their lead after the restart when Wycombe Wanderers loanee Junior Morias skipped past a defender before steering his shot past Jones.

The final goal arrived in stoppage time as Belal Aite-Ouakrim dribbled past challenges before his strike found the net.

McCann said, “Our performance today was very assured, and I would say probably our most assured this season.

“I was very wary of this game because of our record at Canvey Island in recent seasons, but we played very well. Our work-rate was outstanding and we had them rattled.

”We have got five big games coming up but, at the moment, I don't think we fear anybody.”
