Wingate & Finchley get behind Kick it Out campaign

First published in Sport

Wingate & Finchley’s home match against Thurrock has been moved to Sunday March 10 as part of the Ryman League’s weekend-long drive to support Kick It Out.

The campaign works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and work for positive change.

There is one match from each of the three Ryman divisions being staggered over the weekend, and the Blues were selected for involvement as the Premier Division representative.

Community development manager Mike Bayly said: “Wingate & Finchley is proud of its Anglo-Jewish roots, and has been at the forefront of promoting inclusive football for people of all ages, regardless of background or ability.

“We are delighted to have been chosen to participate in this event and are looking to organise a pre-match six-a-side football tournament at our ground consisting of local primary schools across the religious and cultural spectrum.

“Football at this level is very much about engaging with the local community in a meaningful way, an ethos our volunteer staff continues to work towards.”

The club are planning other initiatives and events for fans.
