Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers athlete Gregory Thompson victorious at England Athletics Under-15/Under-17/Under-20 Indoor Championships

A gold medal. A club record. And a place at the top of the UK Under-20 rankings. Gregory Thompson’s display at the England Athletics Under-15/Under-17/Under-20 Indoor Championships was certainly an impressive one.

The Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers competitor’s throw of 17.57 in the Under-20 6kg shot put secured him top spot in the competition.

Also in action at the event was Shadine Duquemin. She claimed a silver medal in the Under-20 4kg shot and is now placed second in the Under-20 UK rankings.

Bronze medals came for Kyle Langford in the Under-20 800m, while Dean Oamen was third in the Under-20 triple jump.

At the British Universities Indoor Championships in Sheffield, Under-23 runner Melissa Courtney secured a gold medal after winning the 1500m. Antonio Infantino (Under-23) was the runner-up in the 200m, while Zane Duquemin (Under-23) came second in the 7.26kg shot.

The Southern Indoor Masters Championships took place at Lee Valley and Nengi Ossai (V35) was crowned a double southern champion.

She won the 60m with a season’s best 7.14 and then was victorious in the 200m with a time of 22.85, another best for her campaign to date.

In the women’s V35 1500m, Lisa Webb ran an excellent race to win the silver medal with a season’s best 5.12.18.
