There were new personal bests for Barnet duo Mark Sparrow and Morag Taylor at the Oak Hill parkrun.

Sparrow and Taylor first took part in the weekly event in January and have reduced their time over the course in East Barnet by almost three minutes.

"It started out as a way of getting into shape and increasing our fitness" said Taylor.

"Seeing our times come down is such a good incentive to keep going. We now try and exercise more during the week so that we improve at the weekend."

Alex McIntosh came home first out of the 44 runners with a time of 17.33. The Welwyn Garden City athlete was followed in by teammate Katherine Philp who was just 17 seconds outside the ladies course record with 19:09. Alan Morris was second home in the men’s race with a new personal best of 19:23 while first junior over the line was Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers' athlete Ashvin Kuri in 19.46.

Daniella Wax (20:33) was second home in the women’s race, while Emma Dwan came third in 21:25.

Oak Hill parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am and is open to all ages and abilities. Registration is free at www.parkrun.org.uk/oakhill and you can email oakhilloffice@parkrun.com for more information.
