Finchley ABC's five fighters at the London ABA semi-finals and finals return empty handed

Despite having five fighters in the semi-finals, Finchley ABC came away from the London ABA semi-finals and finals without a champion.

Featherweight Mohammed Ghaib took on Jerry Mcdonagh of Lynn ABC in a close bout.

Few punches were thrown in the first round and Ghaib pressed forward in the second only to be picked off by southpaw Mcdonagh who nicked a majority win.

Light-heavyweight James Easy got through his last-four fight by defeating Liam Dawson but lost a majority decision in the final to Jack Buats.

Cruiserweight Ossie Jervier was caught by a left uppercut in the second round of his semi-final bout against Ricardo Slue and the referee stopped the contest in Slue’s favour.

Heavyweight and 2011 ABA champion Ben Ileyemi gave Martin Mcdonagh too much of a head start in his fight by throwing very little in the first two rounds.

Ileyemi came to life in the third and picked his punches well. However, he lost a majority decision.

Superheavyweight Dave Abraham ended the day with a lacklustre display against Oscar Omoregie. The Finchley competitor went down to a unanimous points loss.
