Old Elizabethans Thirds made Herts Cricket League history on Saturday as they dismissed Hatfield Hyde Thirds for just seven runs in Division 13 to secure the title.
After winning the toss Elizabethans elected to bat and put on 250 for five in 40 overs thanks to an unbeaten 134 from Glenroy Hylton.
It was a commanding total and a record-breaking bowling display followed.
Tom Spenceley (five for two) and Steve Moss (five for four) ripped through the Hatfield batting order leaving them all out for seven, the lowest in Herts Cricket League history.
Despite winning the title in style, the celebrations were kept at a minimum as the Thirds take on Shenley Village in the Saracens Hertfordshire Trophy final on Saturday.
There was good news for Old Elizabethans first team as they secured promotion to Division Three by defeating Hertingfordbury by three wickets.
This was a second successive promotion for the side which includes four players that have recently come through the clubs vibrant colts’ setup.
Old Elizabethans Seconds suffered a disappointing five-wicket defeat to Greenwood Park in Division Nine despite scoring 212 with the bat.
