Barnet Elizabethans made the perfect start to their Hertfordshire/Middlesex League 1 campaign as they recorded a 29-10 home win against Imperial Medicals.
Elizabethans started the game at pace with territorial superiority over the visitors. A Charlie Mays penalty had put the hosts ahead but Medicals worked their way back into the contest and took a 10-3 lead.
But late in the opening half left wing Robert Cameron-Staff beat his man to touch down with Mays adding the extras.
Elizabethans improved after the interval. They controlled their own ball well and snuffed out the opposition's possession.
The Barnet pack were driving forward to the line when scrum-half Sanjay Dewan took the chance to score a debut try which Mays converted.
From there on the result was never in doubt and several drives almost led to further scores before Chris Bromiley finished off a drive with a try and Mays again kicked the extras.
Elizabethans secured their bonus point late on as a dropped catch allowed David Leadbitter to touch down and Mays again kicked over to complete the victory.
