Barnet Elizabethans recorded a 25-5 win against Verulamians in Herts/Middlesex 1

Barnet Elizabethans recorded their second successive victory in Herts/Middlesex 1 after completing a 25-5 win against Verulamians.
The controlling nature of the Barnet pack led to the first score as they turned over the ball in the home side’s 22 and scored in the corner.
Barnet extended their lead with a penalty and looked to build as their forwards began to run hard at the line. But as the pressure mounted, Verulamians stepped up the defence and repelled several waves of attack with some ferocious tackling.
The hosts looked to step up their performance in the second period but small errors proved costly and Barnet kicked a successful penalty.
But Verulamians responded and, from a lineout, Daniel Barnes barged his way towards the line before showing an impressive reach to touch down.
At 13-5, Barnet responded ruthlessly. Having absorbed pressure for much of the second half they scored two late tries to confirm victory – one from a driving maul and another from a well-worked move out wide.
