There were mixed fortunes for Finchley ABC fighters at the London Novice Finals held at Hayes Working Men’s Club.
In the under-67kg class Johnny Kumateo lost on points to Jake O’Meara but there was success for Nomos Onwegbusi as he gained a points win in the Class A under-75kg final against Paul Michalk.
Finchley’s Yasser Haykal lost a unanimous points decision in the under Class B under-67 kg to St Pancras Kelvin Thomas but Charlie Beardon used his fast hands and quick feet to beat club-mate Paul Greenridge on points in the Class B under-75kg final.
At the Hornchurch Boxing Show, Finchley’s Jamie Bradley clinched a third successive victory with a points win against Bobby Gurr.
Bradley boxed on the back foot, catching his southpaw opponent with quick left right combinations as Gurr stalked forward but was able to land very little of his own.
Finchley’s Libra Campbell-Peel, in only his second bout for the club, kept Ron Howells at bay with long shots which didn’t allow Howells the opportunity to close him down. It resulted in a comfortable points win for the Finchley fighter.
The London NABC Junior Finals were held on Sunday and the club’s one winner was Zac Chaima who defeated Billy Joe Foster in the under-58kg class.
Alex Zendra, Eunnis Chaima and Mason Smith all put up valiant performances but lost narrowly in their bouts.
