Wingate & Finchley take on Daventry Town tomorrow evening in an FA Trophy second qualifying round replay after the first game between the sides ended 1-1 on Saturday.
Wingate started the match strongly and a free kick from Spencer McCall appeared to have crossed the line. But neither the referee or his assistant were in a position to award a goal.
The hosts eventually took the lead in the 25th minute when a McCall corner was knocked home by Jasper Owen.
The Blues almost doubled their lead in the final minutes of the half as David Laird saw an effort cleared off the line.
The second period was a dour affair with neither side creating clear chances.
In the final ten minutes, Daventry pressed forward in search of an equaliser but the best opportunity fell to Wingate. Leon Smith found space and his shot was saved by the Daventry goalkeeper.
It seemed as if the Blues had done enough to seal the win but in the seventh minute of injury time, a cross from Tom James was met by Scott Cross and he bundled the ball home.
After the final whistle, several players surrounded the referee which ended with Wingate keeper Bobby Smith receiving a red card for his protests.
