Potters Bar Tennis Club came third in the Community Club of the Year category at the annual Herts Sports Partnership Service to Sports Awards.

The awards, held at the University of Herfordshire, celebrate clubs who have delivered high quality sport and commitment to their community over the past season.

Potters Bar have added three additional coaching schemes in the last 18 months, making the most of strong relationships with local schools, table tennis clubs and a wheelchair tennis group.

As well as the coaching schemes the club have introduced cardio-tennis sessions and a new ‘adult improvers’ session on Monday nights.

Chairman Mike Wheeler said: “The success of this award is down to the continued hard work of our members.

“One of our core values is to provide a community club that offers tennis for all standards and ages and we’re delighted to have had this recognised.

“There’s a tremendous spirit that exists within the club and we have magnificent volunteers who work tirelessly all year round to help us achieve our goals.”
