Wingate & Finchley’s Ryman Premier match against Margate on Saturday was called off but the Blues were in action on Tuesday night and were beaten 4-0 by Canvey Island.
Wingate had two good chances in the opening period.Tommy Tejan-Sie came close as he released a volley which narrowly missed the target.
Tejan-Sie then turned provider as his cross found Lewis Jones at the far post but his header from point-blank range was blocked by Vickers.
However, Canvey broke the deadlock shortly before the interval as Sheldon Sellears crossed and Jason Hallett flicked his effort past Bobby Smith.
The Gulls then took control of the game in the second period and added three more goals. John Sands found the net just after the hour mark and Jay Curran then struck.
Curran earned his brace four minutes later with a free header from a corner as the visitors eased to victory.
