The London Broncos have been drawn away to Catalan Dragons in the fourth round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup.

It will be the second of five meetings between the sides this season. The Broncos played a pre-season friendly against the Dragons in the south of France and are due to meet them on a home and away basis in Super League as well as at the Magic Weekend in Manchester.

Head coach Tony Rea said: “It’s an interesting one. Obviously there’s a bit of a rivalry there I suppose. We play each other at the Magic Weekend as well as home and away and had a pre-season game over there.

“Any draw is good; we’re excited about being in the cup and are excited about going over there. It’s obviously a place we’re very familiar with as a squad and we enjoy travelling to France.”

The tie will be played over the weekend of April 5 and 6.

In Super League action on Saturday, London Broncos suffered yet another defeat as they went down 50-22 to Wakefield.

Full-back Richie Mathers grabbed four tries in the rout while Jarrod Sammut, Dean Collis (2), Reece Lyne and Pita Godinet also crossed for the visitors to The Hive.

Sammut was accurate with the boot and kicked seven of his nine attempts at goal.

Thomas Minns, Denny Solomona (2) and Matt Cook went over for Broncos who have lost all five of their league matches this season.

Rea told the club website: “It was another experience for us. There were different perceptions going into this game and I just thought we didn’t handle it.

“They’ve come off a really strong win and you could tell from the way they started they were confident. I thought we were probably just trying to find what the game was going to give us.”
