Wingate and Finchley first team coach Daniel Nielsen believes his side can do better after the Blues were held to a 2-2 draw against bottom of the Ryman Premier Cray Wanderers.

Wingate twice led, firstly through Adam Bolle and then Craig Davies, but were pegged back twice meaning that the Blues were left with only a point.

“It was good to get another point on the board, although we know that we can produce a better performance overall. The disappointing part was being 2-1 up with five minutes to go,” said Nielsen.

“Adding another point to our total can only be positive and we are looking forward to going to Lowestoft on Tuesday and getting another positive result."

The Blues threatened throughout the match and opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Bolle tapped in a scuffed Marc Weatherstone shot.

Cray equalised through a Moses Ashikodi free kick but Wingate reinstated their lead when debutant Davies headed home in the 81st minute.

However, they were unable to keep their advantage until full time, as Alex Stavrinou volleyed home minutes later.
