RUGBY: Hendon ease past Quintin
4:30pm Monday 7th April 2014 in Sport
Hendon further cemented their mid-table position with a convincing 34-20 win over Quintin on Saturday.
Winger Judah Simpson scored after just five minutes from a Hendon maul, with their backrow players combining well.
Shortly after, Hendon’s Jamie Connolly broke free with Harry Charles in support to run through and score another try. Mike Evans-Jones added the extras.
Quintin rallied and claimed a backline penalty against Hendon to slot over.
Then, against the run of play, Quintin pushed their way downfield and were rewarded with a converted try, putting them back into the game.
From the restart Hendon demonstrated their running ability with Charles breaking free and avoiding three tackles to score his second converted, easing Hendon to a 19-10 lead at half time.
After the break, Hendon scored again when Connolly touched down in the corner.
With 20 minutes left on the clock and Hendon pushing down the pitch, a defensive error from Quintin saw the ball go loose and Charles was on hand score his third.
Quintin pulled some points back through a short penalty and then tried running the ball at the home outfit but Evans-Jones intercepted and ran the length of the pitch to score for Hendon.
The final try of the match went Quintin's way, but it was too little too late.
