Tom Donati has been appointed as head coach of London Bees ahead of the new Women's Super League season.

The 31 year-old joins the Bees from Barnet FC, where he was lead professional development phase coach.

Donati has previously held roles at Charlton Ladies, Chelsea, Watford and Reading and will be assisted by the current staff at the club.

Speaking to the Bees' official site, Donati said of his appointment: "This is slightly a different role as it’s about winning not developing players, so I’m excited about that.

"The bits I have picked up in my career will have helped, I’m learning all the way and this is another learning curve.

"I hope all my experiences will come together and start to build a clear philosophy and structure of how I want to build as a head coach," explained Donati.

Donati arrived at Barnet in 2012 and has noticed an improvement in the setup at the club in that time.

"It’s definitely a step up in terms of stature and in terms of the ladies team, there’re definitely a few good ladies here," observed Donati.

"I’m impressed with not only the level but also the attitude [of the ladies] was impressive, I think there is a few tweaks that need to be made to push them on a little bit which is good, but hopefully we can all work together in the right direction and get them moving on".

The Bees start their season against Millwall Lionesses on May 1 at the Hive.
