Potters Bar began their Saracens Herts League Premier Division season with a nine-wicket defeat by Welwyn Garden City on Saturday.

Having won the toss and decided to bat, Potters Bar were bowled out for 189.

Rahul Panta top-scored with 47, with Lenny Cooper scoring 36.

Scott Walter took three for 43.

The Welwyn response was quick and effective, scoring 192 for the loss of just one batsman.

Opener James Hewitt scored 109 to set Welwyn well on their way to victory.

In the Championship, Old Finchleians were beaten at West Herts by seven wickets.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bowl first, restricting Finchleians to 167 for seven.

Chetan Depala Jnr top-scored with 87 for the visitors.

Aalok Jain took three for 42 for West Herts.

West Herts made light work of securing the win, scoring 168 for three.

Kie Farrell top-scored with an unbeaten knock of 57.

Totteridge Millhillians beat Langleybury by three wickets in their Championship opener.

Visitors Totteridge won the toss and put Langleybury into bat first.

The hosts were bowled out for 221, leaving Totteridge to secure the win with a total of 225 for seven.

Old Elizabethans began their first-ever season in Division Three with a 49-run victory over Southgate Adelaide.

Southgate won the toss and put their opponents into bat first.

Captain James Heavey scored a useful 40, with Navaid Akhtar adding 63 as the Elizabethans were bowled out for 183.

Martin Flack was the most effective Southgate bowler, taking three for 18, whilst Jubel Ahmed took thee for 32.

The Elizabethans ripped into Southgate, who could only made 134 in response.

Ahmed top-scored with 31, with James Peacock the next highest scorer on 22.

Akhtar was the top Elizabethans bowler, taking four for 29.

Matt Holland weighed in with three wickets for 12 runs.

Speaking after, captain Heavey said: “The effort from the team was brilliant, and each time we were put under pressure, someone put their hand up.

“We look forward to taking this confidence forward this season.”

In Division Seven, Mill Hill Village were beaten at home by Old Camdenians by seven wickets.

Put into bat first, the hosts made a total of 243 for eight.

In response, the visitors scored 244 for three.

Middlesex County Premier Division side Stanmore enjoyed a 28-run friendly win against South Hampstead.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Stanmore scored 201 for six.

South Hampstead could only manage 173 to hand the visitors victory.

Finchley suffered a six-wicket friendly loss at Tring Park.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat, posting a total of 215 for eight.

Opener Francois Haasbroek scored 81 for the visitors.

Jack Deal took three for 21 for the hosts.

Tring Park scored 216 for four to win, Duncan Maddinson’s unbeaten 70 setting the hosts on their way to victory.
