London Broncos head coach Joe Grima says his ambition is to win a match and avoid finishing bottom of the Super League but insists his players believe they can win all of their remaining fixtures.

The Broncos were beaten 38-22 at Huddersfield Giants on Saturday, their 17th Super League defeat of a forgettable season.

However the Australian revealed that despite being without a win at this stage of the season, his players believe they can win each of their remaining ten games, even if his own personal aim is to win just one and avoid finishing bottom of the pile.

Grima told the club's website: "I've got a defensive ambition to win a game and not finish with the wooden spoon.

"It's something no one wants but there's got to be a wooden spooner in every competition in any sport in the world. We'd love not to finish with the wooden spoon," he added.

The former Malta head coach continued: "We don't have the ability to play for 80 minutes and it's something that we're going to struggle with until we do that.

"Once we crack that and learn how to win, we've still got 10 games to go and I can tell you there's some players in that room, hand on heart, that they feel they can win all 10. That's the belief that our players have."

The Broncos afforded their hosts a 22-6 advantage at half-time at the John Smiths Stadium but an improved second-half showing provided some cause for optimism.

Scott Grix opened the scoring early on with a converted try before Brett Ferres doubled the lead.

Jermaine McGillvary added a third try, which was duly converted by Danny Brough; Joe Wardle adding a fourth before the break to make it 22-0 to the Giants.

The Londoners finally got on the scoresheet before the break when James Cunningham burst across the line and Josh Drinkwater added the extras.

McGillvary touched down for his second score after the restart but Drinkwater quickly replied, picking up a loose ball and charging fully 90 yards to cancel out the Giants' score.

Denny Solomona then collected a Drinkwater kick to reduce the deficit further.

However, the Broncos could not build on their brief comeback and found themselves out of the contest once more when Jodie Broughton and Wardle each scored in quick succession.

The Broncos scored once more through Mason Caton-Brown but it was no more than a consolation.
