Barnet Copthall Swimming Club are into the next round of Arena Junior Inter-League after winning the final round of Division 1 at Enfield’s Southbury Leisure Centre.

Two points behind Camden Swiss Cottage swimming club going into the third and final round, Copthall’s young swimmers put in some strong solo and team performances to win the final round and the league overall.

Coach Vicky Nicoll said: “I was very pleased with our performance. We did very well, especially as we had very few older swimmers in the squad and so many of the younger swimmers had to swim up a year."

The team, comprising swimmers aged nine to 12, will now travel to Peterborough for the Arena Junior Inter-league Southern Final in October and if successful, to the National Final in Corby.

It is the second year running that Barnet Copthall Swimming Club has won the first round of the Arena Junior Inter-league, known as the M11 league.

Last year the club made it through to the final in a competition that attracts over 300 clubs from across the UK.
