One-time Barnet midfielder Dan Bradley makes his ‘return’ to The Hive on Saturday as Martin Allen’s table-topping Bees host winless Alfreton Town.

The 25-year-old winger agreed to join the Bees from Alfreton in May but went back on his decision in July after admitting he “didn’t expect” to have to move to the area permanently.

Indeed, the England ‘C’ international never featured for the Bees, with his swift exit completed in mid-July following a non-appearance in Barnet’s opening pre-season friendly against Peterborough United.

Bradley has since returned to Alfreton, where Nicky Law’s Reds are bottom of the Conference, without a win or a point in their opening six matches of the new season.

With six defeats from six, 20 goals conceded and only three scored, it has been a miserable start to the new season for the Derbyshire outfit, who finished in 11th place in the Conference last term.

Manager Law will be back on the touchline for Alfreton on Saturday, having served a six-game touchline ban for “an incident of misconduct”, the exact details of which are unknown.

Bees head coach Allen has a few injury doubts, with Mauro Vilhete, Sam Muggleton and Keanu Marsh-Brown all carrying knocks.

Allen did reveal he had called 16-year-old Matthew Stevens into the squad for Alfreton's visit. The youth team forward scored for the Bees in Tuesday's 2-2 friendly draw with Luton Town.

Forward Iffy Allen continues to work his way back from a broken leg suffered in pre-season but is not yet match-ready.

The Reds will be without defender Chris Smith, who has a hamstring injury, while Duane Courtney has also been struggling with ankle and toe problems, meaning his is unlikely to feature too.

Goalkeeper Jon Stewart has been suffering from a bad back for the last few weeks and will miss out, with Sheffield Wednesday loanee Cameron Dawson starting in his place.

Anthony Howell is suspended for another two games after picking up a red card for a reckless challenge in the 7-0 loss to Grimsby Town.
