East Finchley schoolboy James McKay came second in his first ever cross race, marking a promising start to his Cyclo-cross season with Finchley Racing Team.
In challenging conditions at a wet and muddy course at the Milton Keynes bowl, McKay beat off competition to finish second in his first Central League meeting.
On Sunday, McKay picked up another podium finish, coming third in the Vicious Velo Cross at Hog Hill - ahead of a number of significantly more experienced junior riders.
