Sam Hoskins’ loan spell with Barnet has ended despite Bees boss Martin Allen stating on Saturday the striker would remain at The Hive for another month.

With first-choice forward Charlie McDonald injured, Hoskins joined the Bees in September on an initial one-month loan deal.

He made seven appearances for the Bees, scoring twice, and after Saturday’s 0-0 FA Cup draw with Chelmsford Allen told the Times Series the striker would stay at Barnet for another month.

However, the club have confirmed today that Hoskins has returned to Yeovil and Allen says he will now “look in another direction”.

He told the club website: “I’ve had a good chat with Sam. He has obviously picked up that little injury a couple of weeks back. He has scored some good goals for us and he has played his part in helping us during Charlie MacDonald’s injury.

“We needed a centre forward and he has had a fantastic attitude. He is a first-class professional but we are not going to be taking Sam for another month. He has done a good job while he has been here but I have decided to look now in another direction.”
