Barnet head coach Martin Allen feels player-coach Graham Stack does not get the praise he deserves after making a superb double save to keep the score goalless against Chester on Saturday.

With Chester on top, the former Arsenal gloveman reacted sharply to push away a Matty Brown header, before getting back to his feet in time to keep out Kane Richard’s rebound effort.

The save proved crucial, with Barnet going in front shortly after through John Akinde. Goals from Charlie MacDonald and Curtis Weston completed the victory after the break.

And Allen was effusive in his praise of the Barnet custodian, who recently brought up 100 appearances for the club.

He said: “It was a great double save by Graham Stack and he does not get enough credit for the work he does.

“People do not know how much work he does for me personally and the help and support, especially for the last two weeks where Gary Waddock has gone to another club (Portsmouth) and (Jon) Nurse has been at home resting, so it has just been me and Stacky.”

Stack, who joined the Bees from Hibernian in August 2012, became player-coach in the summer along with Jon Nurse and Allen heaped praise on the Republic of Ireland youth international.

He enthused: “It has been hard, taking the FA Trophy team, taking training for the FA Trophy team and then taking training for the first team.

“People do not know how much work Stack does to help me, look after me and make sure I am OK and then he has to come out and perform. So he has been a major, massive asset behind the scenes to help keep all this together," added Allen.
