Barnet defender Bondz N’Gala says he would be keen to remain with the Bees next season after revealing the club have the option of an additional year on his contract.

The former West Ham United defender joined Martin Allen’s side after being released by League Two Portsmouth at the end of last season after 27 league outings.

And the Forest Gate-born centre-half formed a strong partnership with David Stephens at the heart of the Bees’ defence, making 44 appearances en-route to the Conference title.

Asked after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Gateshead if he would like to remain with Barnet next season, the 25-year-old replied: “I've got an option on my contract so it's down to the club whether they want to take it up.

“I want to prove myself in the Football League.”

N’Gala has previously turned out for Stevenage, Yeovil Town, Plymouth Argyle and Scunthorpe United in the Football League and is optimistic Allen’s side can make a positive impression on League Two next season.

He stated: “We want to emulate Luton Town. We've got enough quality to compete in League Two. We're capable of performing in League Two.”

And the powerful centre-back, who spent six games on loan at Underhill in the spring of 2013, was left elated after winning the first silverware of his career by clinching the Conference title.

“It's a real feeling. I have never felt something like that in my life,” he said. “It is my first promotion and I was so happy. It all felt so surreal with the fans on the pitch. It's an amazing feeling.

“It was an amazing season. This is an amazing group. The boys are unbelievable. We showed everyone what we can do. We had a sticky patch and [bounced back], that is what champions do.”

N’Gala finished by paying tribute to the club’s supporters, with a first sell-out backing the Bees to an all-important win against the Heed.

“The supporters have been fantastic,” he enthused. “I've never seen The Hive so full and it was an amazing atmosphere. I'm hoping we can emulate that next season.”
