Barnet boss Martin Allen has confirmed Barnsley target Andy Yiadom missed this afternoon’s 3-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers with a foot problem, though the extent of the damage is not known.

The 23-year-old right-sided player was not named in the Bees’ starting XI or substitutes for the clash at the Memorial Stadium.

However, Allen revealed the in-demand wideman missed out after suffering a foot injury in the 2-0 win over Northampton Town on Tuesday evening.

Yiadom, who was subject of two bids from the Tykes earlier this summer and a third more recently, also believed to be from the Yorkshire outfit, travelled with Barnet and was in his tracksuit on the bench.

Speaking afterwards, Allen said: “He has a foot injury and we are waiting for a scan. Until that scan happens and we get a result we do not know if that is bruising or a fracture.

“Obviously he is a fantastic player and on days like this you need your best players in your team playing and he is not available at the moment and I very much doubt he will be available on Tuesday (at Wolverhampton Wanderers) either.”

The Bees head coach also confirmed striker Aaron McLean, who might have scored on his debut with a half-chance before the break, was replaced during the interval as Allen wanted a different option up front.

He said: “I thought he did very well, to be fair. Michael Gash has been very good for us but I just felt we needed something a little bit different for the second half and I thought I would bring fresh legs on. Gash when he came on did do very well.

“He has done five weeks of training at Dagenham & Redbridge. We will judge him as he comes through and he has been very sharp in training for the last two days.”

Goalkeeper Graham Stack is suffering from a groin problem but Allen only revealed that after the press conference has ended.

Backup goalkeeper Jamie Stephens stayed out to warm up prior to kick-off and Stack was seen practicing a goal kick in the minutes leading up the start of the game but came through 90 minutes.

The former Arsenal stopper spoke to the Times Series afterwards and that interview will be published tomorrow.
