Barnet will host League Two rivals Newport County in the FA Cup second round after the Exiles thumped Brackley Town 4-1 in Tuesday night’s replay.
Martin Allen’s Bees will now do battle with the Welsh outfit on the weekend of December 5 for the right to enter the third round draw and a potential tie against a Premier League side.
Lenell John-Lewis and Yan Klukowski put the Exiles 2-0 up after 17 minutes before Aidan Hawtin halves the deficit.
Alex Rodman added a third after the break before Hawtin put through his own net to complete the win for John Sheridan’s men. The original tie had ended 2-2 with Brackley coming from 2-0 down.
Newport are captained by former Bees midfielder Mark Byrne.
The Bees had not reached the second round since 2011 and have not featured in round three since the 2006/07 season when they beat Gainsborough, Northampton Town and Colchester United before finally losing to Plymouth Argyle in round four.
